Using Mila

How To Use Mila

Lifemax Mila has no flavor, so you can add it to juice, yogurt, salads, soups or your favorite beverage. We like to take Mila prior to meals for two reasons, it absorbs 30 times its weight when mixed with fluids, which makes you feel full, and it forms a gel in the stomach that slows the absorption of food. Remember to drink an ample amount of water, as you would when consuming any fiber.

Dr. David Niemen’s study in our research section indicated that the peak levels of Omega-3, Alpha-Linolenic Acids (ALA), were reached in 4-5 weeks, so you may realize some of the health benefits within 2 weeks while other may take 4-5 weeks.

How Much Mila Should I Use?

The suggested daily serving is one 13-gram scoop daily but you should always start with a half-scoop for a few days to ensure that your digestive system is accustomed to the extra fiber in your diet. Chia seeds are unique in that there is no recommended dosage or evidence of risks from possibly eating too much. Since Mila chia seeds are an USDA approved food product, you can eat them as often as any other food with a high fiber content. The amount used varies among individuals, how they feel, and their needs.

Some people see additional benefits from more than one serving per day such as Dr. Bob Arnot who eats two scoops on his breakfast cereal every morning and two more in an almond milk shake in the afternoon to control his weight.

How to Eat Mila

You can mix Mila with any of your favorite beverages by adding a scoop to 8 ounces of beverage in a shaker cup or glass. Because Mila is tasteless, many like to add it to their yogurt or cereal as well.

Blend: Blend into yogurt, oatmeal, hummus, cottage cheese, etc.

Smoothies: Add Mila or pre-soaked Mila directly to a smoothie and blend away. The Mila will thicken the smoothie over time, so if you prefer a thinner texture, drink quickly.

Stir: Stir into coconut water, almond milk or soy milk. Adjust amount of liquid depending on the consistency that you desire. For a more pudding-like texture, add less water, and for a more drinkable version, add more.

Bake: Mix into pancake, muffin, bread or cake mix.

Toss: Toss into salad or pasta.

Mila Side Effects

According to research, chia seeds can lower blood pressure. People with already low blood pressure should make sure that their blood pressure does not drop too low.

If you are taking blood thinners like Warfarin, also known under the brand names Coumadin, Jantoven, Marevan, Lawarin, and Waran, we suggest that you consult with your doctor first as the high Omega-3 content in chia seeds is a natural blood thinner.

Although high-fiber diets are considered healthy, the American Dietetic Association warns that high-fiber foods can cause gas and intestinal bloating. If you find yourself dealing with digestive problems after you start taking Mila, cut back on the amount until your system adjusts. Many have avoided bloating by pre-soaking the Mila in 8 ounces or more of their favorite beverage for 10-15 minutes before consuming. You don’t have to drink it all at once. You can put it in shaker cup and enjoy it all morning.

Mila Shelf Life

Because of the natural oils and antioxidants contained in the chia seed, an unopened pouch of Mila can last for 2-3 years. We suggest if you keep an opened package longer than 30 days, that you keep it in the refrigerator. Lifemax does place a code on the back of the bag under the directions with 6-digits that represent the date they suggest as the expiration date for the product.
